10/05/23 Clinician Interaction
Collaborating with Clinicians. Lou Hanson
In this training, participants will explore recommendations and talk through strategies for triadic meetings, documentation, and consultation calls with clinicians. Trainees will also explore what good therapists are looking for from their SP sessions and when to ask therapists to dig deeper. It is important to understand which parts of the client work are which practitioners piece of the pie. We'll also talk through understanding the limits of your own expertise, particularly when therapists are missing the mark.
A Clinician’s Perspective. Leonore Tjia
How should therapists and counselors assess client readiness for surrogate partner therapy? What kinds of considerations ought therapists and counselors have in mind when preparing for, accompanying a client through and integrating SPT into treatment? Leonore Tjia, Marriage and Family Therapy trainee, will present a case study from the clinician's side of the triad, including presenting issues, countertransference, the case conceptualization, and outcomes of surrogate partner therapy. She will also reflect more broadly on SPT's potential application as a relational healing modality for people with developmental trauma.
This session will go from 3:30 to 6:10 Pacific time, which includes 2.5 hours and allows for a 10-minute break somewhere in the middle, at a time that is appropriate for the material.
